August Randoms...

The first few weeks of August were a refreshing break from the road. We had been busy bees traveling throughout the summer and now it was time to rest, nest and get ready for a new year... a year that would involve a few firsts...

It was our goal to drink it in... long, slow, summer days.

And while that never really plays out how you intend it, we still had some long, slow, summer moments that we were sure to treasure.

We built couch forts... I saw this on pinterest... and our couch is a bit worn and old, so it didn't quite hold up like the tutorial told us it would, but it was fun while it lasted! :)

And when it came crashing down we built a fort the old fashioned way... chairs and sheets!

We decorated gift bags for friends in our tent...

And we had a picnic lunch in our tent... we read books in our tent... we built block towers in our tent. We spent a lot of time in our tent! That day was a fun day!

We traded a few summer colds around towards the end of our summer...

SO my snot-nosed girl and I had some slow days on the couch... which involved plenty of opportunities for selfies! In our finest accessories of course!

We played LOTS and LOTS of cards this summer... Go Fish, Old Maid and WAR!

Which even encouraged Justin and I to break out our own deck after the kids went down one night and play speed! It was a fun, easy, date night in!

Our summer was relatively mild until August until the heat got to the unbearable degree mark and we had to make up our own fun inside! :)

We did some home stuff in August... still trying to make our new house fit our needs... so we did a few things to the kid's rooms... one of them included getting Kaki a new bed... which involved breaking down the old one...

We found all of those books we thought we'd lost! :) Not to mention the remenants of many a sticker!

Caden loves to pose for the camera...

In a series...

Creating an impressive array of shots...

Not enough personality... just needs a tad more!

And a bit more ingenuity...

He could do better...

His kicking tee... courtesy of his mega blocks!

There were a few times where our backyard sweaty, grassy, water-hosey fun required a mid-day bubble bath... they didn't ever mind!

And this girl always finds time to perfect her use of the modern accessory.

If she could only find the use for pants...

We had a few movie nights... it had been too long!

Next up... Evans Family Vaca to SA... our last trip of the summer...
