No Halloween Gonna Get Me

Thanksgiving is one week from today, and three weeks ago today, was Halloween and THIS day I am blogging... you with me?

This year Halloween was new and different and refreshing! We played hooky from our normal church activities and decided to have a low-key trick-or-treating event around the hood. It was really nice and so fun to watch both kids experience the excitement that is contained in those three little words... trick or treat!

This year, Butchy and Doc McStuffins were pretty easy to pull off and required limited purchases and for that I consider our costume selections a huge success!

What fun!

I was half-expecting Caden to want to be Levi Norwood by the time Halloween finally got here. I figured his enthusiasm for Butchy would have faded in light of his Baylor Bears, but alas, he surprised me yet again and fully supported his previous character decision and I do believe he was a great Butchy!

And Kaki was easy... she ALWAYS (since the first time we asked her) said she wanted to be Doc McStuffins... well okay then! She wasn't really into the costume as much as the candy... she fully supported Halloween once she got the hang of how the trick or treat thing actually worked. Chocolate... I get chocolate? Just by following Caden up to random doors and smiling? AWESOME!! Best.holiday.ever.

She was not a fan of her stethoscope...

Or smiling for the camera...

But this guy... always a ham!

The duo pic went about as good as it always does...

Head 'em up and move 'em out... we totally took roadies!

See those little tykes up at the door? CAH-UTE!

Now we're groovin...

On the move...

Always the lead...

Getting dark... and a bit scary... we encountered a few scary costumes and a few scary houses to which Kaki always said, "No Halloween Gonna Get Me!" Preach!

We made it pretty late... it was really good and dark and they both had buckets FULL...

And in the coming 48 hours we would finally experience the horrors of Halloween candy... TWICE at 2:30 am Kaki woke up screaming, "I WANT HALLOWEEN CANDY!!!" Right... at 2:30 in the morning. With candy on the brain there was little room for anything else... except for the part of the brain that allows children to form questions, negotiations and raise their voices!

So we traded those suckers (no pun intended) for toys... thank you Ashley for your great idea!

Although, I must say as soon as it was gone... we missed it!

But...

No Halloween (candy) was gonna get us!

Rewind: 2013 BU HC

REWIND...

To October...

for Baylor Homecoming...

aka ...

third most sacred Holiday...

Behind Christmas...

And Easter, naturally!

We had a super fun time and enjoyed our time with friends and family! It always feels good to come home!

This year we were fortunate enough to attend the Bonfire on Friday... the Parade, Saturday... do some tailgating before the game and then most of us got to go to the game too! It was a full weekend of Baylor Proud! And we could NOT be more proud of our Bears this season. It's always ben fun to be a Baylor Bear, because I really do believe there is not another school quite like it, but when you have a winning football team, it's a REALLY FUN time to be a Baylor Bear. It brings us all together under one HUGE roof of excitement and joy abounds!!

Saturday morning the parade was C-O-L-D!! Like SOOOO cold! And I always try to do my best and be prepared, but when you hear 50 degrees you think one thing and then when you feel 50 degrees you think quite another... and we were definitely in the quite another category! It was our first true cold snap and our blood was a little thin, but we enjoyed the festivities nonetheless!

First up... the Golden Wave Marching Band... soft spot... big heart... tear! :)

Caden insisted on wearing his helmet most of the weekend which in hindsight probably kept him really warm... :)

The crew... you'll notice Kaki is more concerned about how many donut holes she has left than the parade... donut holes are GOOD!! Thanks Nana and Bop!

And here they come...

Here come the Bears... bah, bah! Here come the Bears... bum, bum!

And the Bruiser Balloon... a crowd favorite!

And Dr. Packard... and his lovely wife... he was one of my professors and my Dad had him too... he's old! (Happy Birthday Albi... 58!! What, what!!)

Caden in his spot...

And Kaki in hers... all bundled up!!

Selfie.... eek... not our best... but good enough! :)

Fam pic... we're growing!!!

After the parade we usually walk through campus, get a Dr. Pepper float and the like, but this year we decided to head home and thaw out... we needed it if we were going to be up for some tailgating later that afternoon!

And as luck, fate and the Lord would have it... it warmed up to be a beautiful day! Couldn't have ask for a better one!! We had homemade Gut-Paks in the backyard and watched some football on Nana and Bop's fancy new porch TV and had a fun time relaxing!

Then is was up and out and to the stadium for some tailgating!! This girl was pumped!!

And it goes without saying that this boy was too!!

Caden loves playing "bean bags," but Kaki seems to enjoy the "slide" functionality more than anything...

Look at that handsome hunk of a hubby tossing that bag... such skill!

So Kaki... likes to slide... down, down, down...

Then crash on the grass...

And then do it all over again...

She is a NUT!! Our comic relief ALWAYS!!

That girl!!

Determined...

She was annoying the ever loving tar out of her brother who kept saying she was IN THE WAY!! Welcome to life with a little sister, dude!! Welcome!

Thankfully, before C could level K with a well-formed tackle it was time for March of the Bears... HEY! OH!! We pumped!!

CYRIL!!!

BRYCE!!

HANDS OUT...

Still rockin' the gold helmet...

Cuite Coach...

My cuties...

ART!!!! COACH!!!

LA-CHE!!!!! Not to be confused with the spanish word for milk... Leche!! Ahem!

It's Bruiser...

Well, we won... duh! :) It was another fun victory for the Bears! We could totally get used to this being good stuff... it's SUPER FUN!!! But we want to be sure and keep our heads about us... it wasn't that long ago when we remember being beat by the same margin we are now beating teams! We get it!

Sunday morning before hitting the road after a fun weekend in the Wac... we attempted some cousins pumpkin pics... right...

Having three on the move is tough... especially a cute boy in a puffy vest... he's always out on an adventure!!

Stinkers!! Maybe next year!!! :)

Thanks for a fun weekend in Waco, Baylor!! And Nana and Bop! Until next time...

HEEEEEEEEEEY Sic 'em Homecoming!!!
