Fabulous FOUR (months!)

Four Months Old... can it be?! I should know by now that YES, yes in fact it CAN be! As time goes by... at the speed of light, my kids grow right along with it. As fast as weeds it seems, although they are the kind of weeds with the pretty flowers on the ends, of course!

Kaki has changed the MOST this month than in her previous three. She has been MUCH more awake during the day, playing in the variety of baby accessories we have for her to choose from... the exersaucer, the bumbo, the activity mat, the swing and then there is always the floor, the couch, the bed, her rocking chair! The girl has plenty of places to be and be seen that is quite certain.

Kaki-girl is one serious napper these days and I cannot believe I have a "in my bed three times a day" napper... crazy! The 3 nap thing with Caden seemed darn near impossible, but with Kaki she is very clear when she needs to go down and has pretty much set her own schedule, which is amazing. Although, to be fair to myself I think it may have the slightest bit of something to do with knowing how important schedules can be and most importantly how important SLEEP is for any growing kid. I am not going to say that it has been easy... I have to let her cry some and I HATE IT, but I believe in it, so I have been stickin' to my guns! Today, though... I was really close to yanking her out of bed because I just couldn't stand to hear her so upset... she was really putting on a good show for me. It was so sad :( But like I said ... I believe in it! (for my family... not for every family!)

For the most part Kaki-pants is one happy, goofy girl. She smiles with her entire face... crinkling her little nose up to her eyeballs when she is really tickled. And speaking of tickled she is SUPER ticklish, but we have to work really hard to get a peep out of her. She is like her KK and does the silent giggle... we ALL go crazy when she finally belts out a little laugh. It is so unexpected and HILARIOUS!

She is "talking" a lot more... especially the last few days... really ooooo-ing at us... not so much goooo-ing, but definitely oooo-ing! :) Again, I don't know how she'll ever get a word in with her UBER verbal older brother around.

Speaking of older bro... boy does she ever love him. She grins so big when he is around and is enjoying "playing" together. Playing together usually consists of Caden piling ALL of Kaki's toys around her, covering her with a blanket, showing her how to say sic 'em bears or asking her to "watch dis, tacki!"

Caden is also very helpful and tells me when he thinks Kaki is hungry... which is usually every time she cries... which normally he is right. She cries when she is hungry!:) She is eating 5 to 6 times a day depending on our day. I am still pumping and supplementing her last half to full feeding of the day, depending on how much I've been able to pump that day! 3 months down... hopefully 8 more to go!! :) Think we can do it?!?!?!?!

Kaki has got some SERIOUSLY immature tear ducts that we have been nursing... they aren't getting much better but her doctor assures me that she will not be slimy-eyed forever... but it could take several more months! Poor thing!! She's still adorable, even with slimy green boogers coming out of her eyes! Of course she is!

Kaki is taking after her brother and loves her a good book. We are having so much fun reading all of her girly books, although I must say that her library pales in comparison to her brother's... hint, hint grandparents! :) We must keep building!

Even though last month I made fun of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and how much Kaki dislikes watching it... I actually think she LOVES it... her head will find that TV no matter where she is in the room. The other day she almost turned over trying to watch it while I was changing her diaper... and nope...no turn over yet, but she is dangerously close! In her own time she'll be turning circles!

I can't say enough about my sweet girl... she completes our family in a way I didn't even know it needed to be completed... does that make sense?! She is the four in our foursome! We all love her pieces and can't believe it has ONLY been 4 months... it seems as she as always had a piece of our hearts! We love you Kaki girl! Here's to 4 fabulous months! Happy Birthday!! :)

I am OUT of white onesies that fit... SO we had to utilize a patterned onesie instead... luckily we had one that matched the colors of her picky sticky! Phew! We tried a new photo shoot location today, but I think next month we might be back to the white blanket... although it was fun to "play" in her room today! :)

Here she is... in all her 4 month old glory... Kaki-pants!!

We really got to work on her lady-like-ness...

Sweet girl...

No bow today... sometimes I just love "simple Kaki"... she is beautiful all on her own!

Happy girl...

To Appease Our Fans...

Alright... WELL... I have been patiently waiting for Justin to do some blogging from his BIG football road trip with the Cade-man... he REALLY wanted to blog, so I said sure... I'd love to have a bit of a blog break and let you take the wheel... BUT it has now been WELL OVER a week since their big weekend and we have FANS... and they are WAITING for more sweet pics of our kids! Come on, Daddy... get with the program!! Grandma and Gram and Bop... and those sweet aunts and uncles are ALL getting antsy!!

So in hopes of appeasing our fans I have taken the liberty (you're welcome) of posting a few random iPhone pics taken over the past few days... or maybe weeks... you never can tell!

Sweet Kaki girl in her Bumbo!!

We've actually got a big week of posts coming up with sweet little little turning 4 months on the 27th! Woah, baby!!

Miss K got her some new bows... a fall collection... and I upgraded her to a bit bigger bow!! I am a tad picky when it comes to bows... I like the ones that are attached to the headband for now... I like how they lay flatter on her head! Until she has some hair to clip it in, the headband/bow is going to be out go-to... and the end of my spare change! :) God Bless etsy!!

You like my bow??!!!

I think it is safe to say she is enjoying her new, BIGGER-BOWED look... all smiles!! :)

And creepy-eyed Caden down below was reluctantly posing for a FIRST JEANS AND JACKET pic of the season before school last week... I couldn't believe we needed such clothing!! Of course this week we are back near 90... but I hear there is another cool snap headed our way... so our jacket won't go too far!

And today... a lazy Monday around these parts. Lots of laundry and a day where we stayed in our PJs ALL day!! I love those days!!

Block building while Kaki was napping this morning... we were pretty proud of our creation... and of our fashion... go rogue!

And later this afternoon... same outfit... just new accessories... playin' football in the house... :) Oh the shame these pics may cause this poor child someday... but to be fair... it is Mommy and Daddy who still put him in his itty bitty pj shirts! :)

That's all I've got for now...

More to come...

Happy Monday!

A Lil Friday Punkin Fun

This morning Caden, Kaki and I headed out a bit earlier than normal in search of a few PERFECT PUNKINS...

We were hoping that the pumpkin patch in our neck of the woods would be open today, but alas... they opened at noon! SO... what is any Central Texan to do but head on over to your local HEB... where conveniently... they had PLENTY of PERFECT PUNKINS to choose from...

Caden picked out a small one... just right for the paint project he had in mind. And I picked out a bigger one... perfect for carving! We didn't carve last year... just painted... BUT I felt like Caden was old enough to do it it this year. And I was right!

Well kind of... he wasn't so much into the innards of the punkin... he thought they were pretty gross, but he was excited to cook the seeds. We made sweet and salty seeds... I am a HUGE fan but Caden, not so much... he said, "I no like that, Mommy!" Ah, well ... we tried!

Ready for a little painting...

Wondering where Kaki is??!! She is napping... in her own bed... which is where she is now... although I do hear a bit of noise coming from the monitor just now... BUT the real point of all of this is that I am working on getting her in her bed for two naps a day. We did a little crying it out this morning... like 8 minutes worth... NOTHING like I had to do with Caden. I am a bit sad... and I miss her while she's in her room, BUT it does give Caden and I a little one on one time to do "big kid" things and for that I am thankful! Plus... I know it is good for Kaki. The other night I had a VERY over-tired girl on my hands... and it was COMPLETELY Mommy's fault! Mommy-fail!

Okay so a post about punkins turned into a post about napping... HA! Love it how that happens...

Before we went to pick out our punkins we had a little photo shoot of our punkin gear!

It was kind of a touch n go morning around our house, so we did the best we could on the pics! Once Kaki's orange bow arrives in the mail we'll definitely have to do round two! :)

Sweet brother and sister!!

The artsy punkin pic... we are so hip!

Little punkin face...
Sweet...
Happy Friday y'all!!

Go Bears, Go Bears, Go Bears, Go Bears Go!

Howdy-ho neighbors... not sure where that came from, other than the new Tim Allen show that keeps commercialing... is that a word? Remember Wilson?!

Well, we had an exciting weekend in Waco... truly!

But before we get there... I have a little Katie's Hair Weekly for ya... I cut it off... ALL OF IT! It is the shortest I've had it in years! Maybe I've only had my hair shorter than or as short as this one other time...

Here's the pic...
It's a pic from the Flying J parking lot in Jarrell, TX... with my phone... so give me some grace... or don't because I LOVE IT! Bye, bye hair!! See ya lata...

So back to our exciting weekend in Waco. We drove in for lunch on Saturday to celebrate Ree Ree's 28th... I mean 21st birthday! Of course, the occasion was Ree Ree's birthday BUT the big deal was the BU football and Caden's debut to the land of football this season... he and Justin got to go to the game last night... just to test the waters... see how far we'd come in a year... was he ready for at least a few quarters? Maybe even the whole first half??!!

The verdict...??? THREE QUARTERS! Daddy was THRILLED! And the Bears won... so what could be better than that... BUT let me just say that Kaki and I were getting a little worried as we were watching it from home... the first quarter had us doing some serious nail-biting... or hiding under the couch-ing... eek! But justice prevailed ...

Kaki and I did a lot of playing last night... a little girls nights if you will... the Prince and Me on ABC Family and then the Bears... done and done!

And now for Baylor's BIGGEST fan...

The Chade man... pre-game... at the house... you think he's excited?!!

Heeeeeeyyyyyy, sip 'em Bears... yes I know I said sip 'em... that's how he says it!

A little tailgatin' with Uncle Tag and Aunt Ree Ree's friends... a hot dog from the boys...

Thankfully, Nana and Bop's ticket neighbors were gone for this game and Caden and Justin got to snag the seats next to them! FUN times!!

New pom-pom!! I had packed Caden's old pom-pom... but he got a new one at the game so you better believe he was gonna shake that baby!!

Super fan... Caden!
Half-time... eyes looking a little tired and swollen BUT hanging... he LOVED the band... march, march, march!!
And half-time meant snack time... Kettle Corn anyone?!! Caden LOVES tot-torn... but it doesn't love him quite as much... it is only a sometimes treat! :)

He got home about 9:15 last night and was DYING to tell me all about the game. The first thing he showed me is how the drummers in the band marched and played the drums. He LOVES drummers... I think I might have a little drummer boy on my hands! He was also keen on finding Bruiser the Bear the ENTIRE game. He kept asking Bop... "where is the Bear? Is him?" And I think it was because Bruiser is obviously awesome BUT more so because Caden wanted to be sure to keep an eye on that silly bear... no surprise mascot attacks... we're still not super comfortable with things in costume!! Get excited for Halloween! :) Yes!

Today, he told me a story about how the band parted at the beginning of the game and made a tunnel and all of the "football guys" ran out of the tunnel and then something about the Army guys on the BIG TV... thinking maybe when they sang the Star-Spangled Banner and held the flags? Either way... they made an impression on him!

What a FUN FUN day for Caden. I have to admit I was a bit jealous! Justin had the BEST time watching his budding football fan! I can't wait to experience the excitement myself... :) Homecoming... just a few weeks! So excited!

When we got home today a special package was waiting for Caden on the porch... his NEW set of blocks... since they are his OBSESSION!!! Now Nana and Bop and KK and Albi each have a set... and so do we... and they are each different... so here's to building LOTS of "docks!"

He likes to USE "all dem docks" to build his castle... not just a few... what a funny little man!!

In other news...

Justin INSISTED I put this on the blog... as a recommendation of course... in no way are we poking fun at our "naked" dog... never!

We have had labs for well the entire 7 years we've been married... and NEVER once have we shaved them... thought about it several times, but just not done it, despite our shedding woes... and Dyson-cleaning!

BUT... we finally did it last weekend...

Max before...

Max after...
And no shedding... beautiful! It has seriously helped the MESS!!

Happy weekend everyone!! And thanks Nana and Bop for a fun weekend of birthday celebrating and Baylor Bears!! Happy birthday Aunt Ree Ree!! Hope 21 is the best year yet... wink, wink!

AND NOW FOR MY FAVORITE PICTURE OF THE WEEKEND...

I LOVE this boy to pieces!!!

Sweet Girl

KK reminded me the other day of this precious outfit she bought for Kaki on Zulily WAY before she was even born... she is growing so fast that I have to make a more concerted effort to get her in all of her sweet lil duds! :)

Today, we had an impromptu photo shoot while big bro was eating his Popsicle and doing some chalk art on the porch!

Always has those hands up... like she's afraid of something flying at her face! Hmmm... strange!

Oh what a sweet little punkin face!

Inquisitive...
Sweet...
Silly...
A-dorbale...
Knocked my bow off while trying to cover up my face!!

Where's Kaki???!!
There she is!
Angelic...
Lovely...
And now for a few outtakes...

Of course y'all know that big bro was involved in these...

He was finished with his popsicle and wanted in on the action... notice the chocolate fudgesicle goatee he's sportin'...

Now you see it... now you don't... because guess what lil stinker wiped his BROWN face all over my BEAUTIFUL WHITE blanket.... you guessed it!!

Little punk! Ha! And Kaki is smiling because big bro is getting a talkin' to from Mommy about the proper places to wipe our dirty faces! Like your shirt! Come on kid!

But he's sweet anyway...
Happy Friday to you and yours!
