First Trip to the Big D Part I: The State Fair

I know it doesn't seem possible, but this weekend was Caden's FIRST trip to Dallas. Although I guess this is not TECHNICALLY his first trip seeing as Justin and I were actually baby-mooning in Dallas while attending a friend's wedding the weekend before we found out Caden was a boy. In fact, it was on this trip that we saw a Daddy and his little boy at the hotel pool who we fell in love with... and his name happened to be Caden! :) So Dallas is a pretty big piece of Caden's story. It's where Mommy and Daddy met, it is where we were married, it is where he was named and maybe even where he was conceived (the debate on this one is still out!)... so... this weekend was a pretty BIG deal for the Chade! His first trip to the BIG-D! And what a trip it was...

Friday morning we packed up Tilly and headed out early, stopping through Waco to pick up Nana on our way to the State Fair of Texas! Whoo hoo!! Justin and I neither one had been in several years and were SUPER excited to get to spend the day with our lil man! (and Nana too of course!)

Caden had NO IDEA what FUN he was in for, and quite honestly we didn't either. He has had the opportunity to ride several rides at three different amusement parks and each time he gets a bit braver... BUT it had been several months since his last trip, so we weren't sure how he would do... we thought he could be tentative at first, but OH NO! He practically RAN to the first ride, shouting, "NANA get me some tickets, girl!!" on the way there. Ha!!

Sweet Nana (and Paps) dropped some SERIOUS cash on this little guy this weekend with all of his ridin'... oh man! He rode just about everything he was able to and a few he did twice! And that was just Friday... phew!

So Friday was a FULL day for all of us... especially the Chade who powered through with no nap and some pretty warm temperatures. I think the excitement of it all gave him an extra boost of energy. He was FIRED up... of course the Corny Dog and bite of Daddy's Fried Snickers might have helped too! :)

This was by far Caden's favorite ride... he rode it a total of THREE times this weekend! Daddy was a great sport and rode on all of the rides with Caden so I could play photographer... and Nana was the official ticket counter and cheerleader! Thanks Nana! :)

After the fair we headed to our hotel to get settled for the weekend and then went and ate at El Fenix, an old Dallas fav! Then it was to the POOL... which was FREEZING cold... so our time there didn't last much longer than the one dip you see here... poor Caden he was a bit nippy! :)

And that concludes day one... BUT day two includes just as much fun and EVEN more ACTION if you can believe that! We have to wait on our other official family photographer, Aunt Ree Ree to send us her pics before we can get that post up... so until then...
