We're Going Retro...

I've been neglecting to put a few things on the blog for days and even months for some of this stuff... so today we're going retro... are you ready??!!

Last week, Caden had his 9 month well-check-up. It was a fairly routine appointment, but we did have one thing that I (knowing my child) thought I would NEVER have to worry about... or maybe not worry about, but ever hear...

I'd like to see Caden gain some weight....

WHAT?!!

This kid...

Are you sure you are talking about my Caden?! This kid, right here....?

Okay surely you must be confused... Look at him...

Okay so that was the OLD Caden! My big lil man is no longer very big. He went from the 100th percentile to the 50th in weight. He actually hasn't gained an ounce since he was 4 months old... and even worse, he's lost a little bit.

So what's a momma to do? Feed the kid dairy!!! YAY!!! We were cleared to start adding dairy into Caden's diet... which has helped us add the much needed fat to help Caden gain some weight. And so far so good... no bloody diapers!! After talking with the doctor and knowing my own body, my crazy ridiculous milk (creme) production and my child it has been decided that as I switched Caden to solids and did less nursing the amount of calories was no where near the same. The milk that produced that chub above was more like creme and the food that began replacing it was like what the contestants on the Biggest Loser eat... lean and green... no dairy, no fat... etc.

AND poor lil Cade-man was on the Biggest Loser workout plan too... crawling and pulling up on EVERYTHING. Scaling the stairs one billion times a day! It was no wonder the kid couldn't gain an ounce.

BUT I am proud to say that after only a few days of our newer higher fat, more food diet, Caden is quickly gaining weight. And did I mention he LOVES dairy??!!

And I think I might deserve mom of the year once again!! I don't think I was feeding Caden enough... in fact I was near starving the child... dairy products aside, we have increased the amount he is eating as well... how do you know?! It is so hard to know how much they need...

I'm learning... we're figuring it out... my child will surely be able to gain weight... so please don't judge my child when he begins to look a little more like the pictures from the past... Chubby is in! Chubby is healthy! So here's to adding the chub!

"Well there's the problem with Caden's weight," you might say after seeing this next picture...

The child falls asleep at dinner!!

This was a picture I took with my phone the very first time Caden sat in a restaurant highchair... notice the bath towel we rigged as a high chair cover! :) He has not done this since, but on this particular night in San Antonio, the Cade-man was over it... completely OVER it! People all around us were starting... like that poor child and those horrible parents who are laughing at that sweet lil slumped over baby!!

Trust me when I say, Caden does NOT sleep through meals...

Remember how I said that we I was going to post the family pictures we had taken on our lake summer vacation when they were ready? Well... they've been ready forever and I just haven't posted them... here are a few of my favorites!!

Caden does not like to sit in the grass... especially the damp grass!

I want to press pause on this moment in time... what a sweet, sweet moment with his Daddy... the man who rescued him from the grass...

Angelic boy...

Sweet and sly... my little Caden-pie!

Flash back is over... we're all caught up!

Now to bed... I am nursing an "almost sinus infection..". one of the "perks" of being an allergy nerd living in the allergy capital of the nation!!
