I Went to the Animal Fair...

...the birds and the beasts were there.
The BIG baboon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair...

So Caden didn't get to go to the Animal Fair (that one of his very favorite songs is written about) but he did get to go with his KK and his Albi to the...

SAN ANTONIO ZOO!!!!

Again, I keep telling Caden how special he must be because Albi took most of the day off from work just to take Caden to the zoo... nuts!! Caden is one special boy in his KK and Albi's hearts. And that is a GROSS understatement!

So the day started off with a bang... or a bugle... an elephant bugle that is! A sound that Caden didn't really like too much. It was a little loud for his liking actually. But before the noise, Lucky the Elephant was a HUGE hit with the Cade-man...

We were lucky enough to make it to "Keeper Connection" and were able to listen to Lucky's keepers talk all about her life at the zoo... she even did some tricks for us! Including that not so quiet bugle... poor sweet, tenderhearted Caden, he's a sensitive soul just like his momma was and really isn't much into loud noises. I am sure the Homecoming Parade and the football game will both involve a few meltdowns this weekend. :)

Caden thought it was pretty cool that Lucky took naps too... even the BIG guys need their sleep!

Next we were on to see the rest of Africa... lions which roared, monkeys that went chit chee and all sorts of other "deer-type" animals that Caden had fun watching.

After Africa we stopped at Lory Landing to watch the birds or "lories" tweet around their home. Caden was excited when a few of his lory friends came up to visit...

The zoo wouldn't be the zoo without the "petting" part. Caden had the opportunity to meet Bryan the goat. He got to feed him some food and pet his back and nose. Albi snapped some great pics of the action!

Since Bryan got to eat a little snack Caden decided it was his turn to get a little grub... so we stopped and had lunch!

And then Albi... giving into his inner child fed the ducks!

Next up... the Kid Zone... made especially for kids under 5... it was really great to have exhibits where Caden could be eye-level with the action...

When you zoo-it with Albi, a stop by the Anaconda cage is a MUST... sick!! KK didn't even come in... nasty thing (acutally she said "thang")... and NO thanks!

From there is was stops by Toad Alley and the Aquarium, but being the true Baylor Bears that we are, we saved our friend the Grizzly Bear for last...What do bears say???

Sic 'em!!

On our way out of the zoo we HAD to ride the train. Albi had been waiting ALL day to get on and take a ride around the grounds...

It started off great... Caden was ready and raring to go...

But then the conductor of the train came over the LOUD speaker and well, it was over...

Sweet, sensitive-eared child...

It got better once he was in Mommy's arms... BUT that loud speaker coming on and off was making things a little difficult!

Regardless of the tears, we still had a good time on the train... like my parents did with me, we are just going to have to keep "loud-noising" Caden and eventually he'll be able to tolerate a little extra noise!

The best pictures are the ones of Caden taking in all the sights (in my humble and unbiased opinion) but I did manage to snap a few of all of the animals we visited and hope to make a book for Caden to learn his animals!

Here are a few of our favorite friends...

Have a Zoo-rific Day!!
