Caden and Aiden...

From blog buddies to best buddies...

Yesterday, we had a rare opportunity to spend the afternoon and evening with one of our favorite blog buddies, Aiden!! Aiden's mommy and I were in the same sorority at Baylor and since becoming bloggers and mommies have LOVED keeping up with the latest and greatest with our respective lil' "den" men! When Casey had to be in Austin for a wedding and needed to find someone to watch her sweet lil' man thankfully she thought of us and so the story begins...

Casey wasn't too sure how Aiden would do in such a new place, but as most kids do he made his Mommy and Daddy TOTAL liars, because he did not shed ONE TEAR when we stood on the driveway and waved goodbye! He was so brave and decided that he could handle me for the afternoon/evening... BUT...he hadn't met The Chade yet!

Caden woke up after Aiden had had about an hour to warm up to me and the house. When Aiden and I peaked through the doorway to get Caden out of his bed, Caden stood up immediately and pointed to Aiden. I introduced them and Caden was FROTHING at the mouth to get down and play with his new friend! Poor Caden is a little desperate for some DUDES because he was SO excited...

Aiden wasn't so sure what he thought of Caden and I get that... he tends to come on a little strong! Most people start with the handshake... and Caden is one of those huggy types! Poor Aiden...

After nap Caden asked Aiden to join him for some Dude Snacks... goldfish and water... YUMM-O! They ate and chit-chatted about doggies and the park and I think I even heard them saying a thing or two about Dude Sports... go figure. Such boys! :)

If you haven't "met" Aiden before you must... his Mommy's blog is on our blog roll... The Wiegand's! And it just so happens that Casey and her hubby Chris are UBER-TALENTED artists! Casey does things with paint that are unreal and Chris is the same with film and photography. Pretty much I was babysitting for celebrities... not to brag or anything!

AND double not to brag... Casey (because she is WAY WAY too nice!) brought me one of her beautiful paintings as a "THANK YOU" for watching Aiden! Are you kidding?! I feel like a thief! But don't worry I didn't try and give it back... oh no! I am REALLY excited to have a Casey Wiegand original... I will post pics once I get it hung! It's AMAZING! Thank you, Casey... it really was TOO much! BUT I'm grateful... truly!!

Okay back to the boys...

More dude snacks...

Aiden was showing Caden a few sippy cup tricks... pretty neat!

After dude snacks we did LOTS of playing... and I built the boys a pallet on the floor and put on the TV. Aiden's Mommy and Daddy said he was a HUGE fan of YO Gabba Gabba so I was hoping that Aiden would rub off and Caden and teach him to sit and watch something on TV besides Praise Baby...

Wishful thinking... they were having WAY too much dude fun to watch TV...

Poor Aiden had to keep running from Caden who was DETERMINED to get as many hugs in as possible... check him out... (sorry the quality is bad... my phone was the only thing close!) This is like one of 20 times Caden attempted this!! Poor, poor Aiden!!

Got 'em...
Oh no you don't... I'm outta here!!

They were such good boys yesterday... I had a bunch of fun playing with them all afternoon!

Aiden liked all of Caden's tools... people are going to think I violate child labor laws with all of the dude tools we've got lying around... hoe, shovel, broom, vacuum, rake... HA! Aiden carried the red hoe around the house for the better part of an hour... even when he wanted to be held he refused to let it go... he's a workin' man! It was hilarious how much he liked it. Later he found Caden's pinwheel and didn't let it go except to go to the park. He even feel asleep with it in his hand... sweet, sweet boy!

After lots of fun playtime we had some Dude Dinner... and again they ran their mouths about all sorts of dude things... I got quite an education! :)

AND just as we were finishing up Justin came home to complete our dude night line-up...

Since both of the boys were standing at the back door BEGGING to be let loose in the great outdoors we decided to load them up in the wagon and head to the park! We definitely threw some neighbors for a loop... they figured we MUST have been hiding Aiden in a closet somewhere... HA! Poor Aiden got to meet all of the neighbors and hear them ooo and goo over his curly hair and big eyes... those two guys were a quite a show-stopper! Such socialites, I tell you what!!

Aiden was LOVING the big boy slide!! He was being SO brave! He just climbed RIGHT up and was ready to fly down! Every time he went down (with help, don't worry Mommy!) his hair was sticking straight up because of the static... it was HILARIOUS! I didn't have enough hands to take a picture of it, so you'll just have to take our word for it! SO cute!!

Snapping pictures at the park didn't quite work out too well with our adventurous little ones so I didn't get any of Caden... we had to play man on man defense and even a little bit of zone defense when it came to the slide! Phew! I'm proud to report we were injury free... :)

After the fun at the park it was DUDE BATH TIME!! We just knew these two would have SO much fun in the bath together...

Two little diaper dudes!!

BUT when the diapers came off so did the wheels... and we had two very unhappy little boys! Haha! I think they needed their privacy! It was pretty sad! Needless to say, Aiden and I headed downstairs and opted for a sink hand-washing and then got into his jammies and Justin finished his routine with Caden and we called it a night!

Aiden got to stay up a bit later and hang out with Justin and I on the couch! I never realize how much energy Caden has until we are around other kiddos... Aiden... little angel, just sat in between Justin and I on the couch and hung out. He was awesome! We didn't know what to do without a lil' guy trying to scale the back of the couch, type on the computer, grab the remote controls, etc. etc.  Justin was totally diggin' dude time with Aiden on the couch!

Aiden ended up falling asleep on the couch on my lap... which you know I didn't mind at all! I was loving every minute of it! But as you know... all good things must come to an end... and Aiden's Mommy and Daddy came and picked him up... :( We were sad to see him go but so thankful to have gotten to love on him for the day! What a treat for all three of us!! (Also a treat to hug his sweet Mommy and her growing baby Ainsleigh! And to meet Aiden's Daddy!!) Thanks for trusting us!!

Come back soon, Aiden!! We'll miss  you!!
