Not sure where all my creative bones went... but they have temporarily (I hope) left my body! It is possible that the LARGE doses of sudafed, mucinex and tylenol that I've been doped up on this week have something to do with my lack of creative ability. I think (crossing my fingers, praying, hoping, believing) that my not-quite-a-sinus-infection is finally saying its' goodbyes...Praise the Lord! I have always heard, the longer you live in Austin the worse your allergies will get... well... maybe this is it... it's my time!
Alright so enough about the allergy nerd and on to more about our relaxing family weekend. Saturday was a special day for me because I got to go get my hairs did! Yay! I think I've mentioned before that I used to pay unimaginable (and embarrassing) amounts of money on my hair. Well, I received a special treat a few weeks ago when my old colorist, who I HAD to leave due to the budget about this time last year sent me a note on facebook. I didn't tell her I was never coming back when I saw her last and she tried to contact me right before Caden was born by phone and then I changed my cell number... and well then I've been a little busy being a MOM and just haven't touched base with her. BUT she found me on facebook and after several "How Are You?" "You Have a Baby!!" messages back and forth she offered to do my hair for under HALF of what I used to pay her just because she is THAT kind of person... can you believe that? She and I became friends over our 2 year "hair-dids..." friends that chatted for 2 hours every 8 weeks... which is more than I talk to a lot of my really good friends! It was so fun to see her yesterday and catch up. It was a special treat and a very unexpected blessing!
So while I was getting my hair done, Caden and Justin were working on some very special things at home... more on that later...
Today was a full day of family fun...
I don't know if I've mentioned this on the blog before or not, but since the flu outbreak last month we have decided not to send Caden to the nursery on Sunday mornings, which means Sunday morning worship service for us is out. It was a HUGE (and hard) decision because I love nothing more than worshiping with my church on Sunday mornings, but for this season in our lives we are skipping Sunday morning worship and watching sermons online. We ARE however participating in an exciting new place of ministry that is allowing us to serve in a new way at our church without fighting the 'nursery sickies' that I am not quite ready to throw at Caden. We are excited for the immunities from his seasonal flu and piggie flu shots to kick-in so we can venture back, but until then we are going to be parking it on the couch with a lap top and a Bible and do church at home!
So our Sundays have not been typical for us, but they have still managed to remain a special time for our family... Sundays have been FAMILY days!!
TODAY, after Caden woke up for his morning nap we packed up the car and headed to Art On the Square in Georgetown... it always amazes me how many truly talented people there are in this world... incredible!
Then headed to the park for a family picnic...
After the park we hit the store to stock up for the week. While we were there we saw these things called Biter Biscuits... which I kept calling BITTER biscuits, because at first glance that's what I thought they were called. But after watching Caden tackle this beast of a biscuit... we decided that they are in fact NOT bitter, but Messy, Slimy, Mushy and well, REALLY YUMMY!
The weather could not have been prettier this weekend so it was only right to sit out on the porch and enjoy...
Okay... so now the big event... what Caden and Justin worked very hard on while I was out on Saturday. Justin and Caden have a McCoy, Shipley kind of thing going on...
This video doesn't quite capture the essence of Caden's excitement when he runs in for a touchdown... anytime a video is taken he gets a little shy...
And there you have it... a VERY un-creative and actually a little wordy weekend recap...
DONE! Happy Weekend!!
