Uncle Scott Had A Farm... and Other Weekend Adventures!

Well, do I have a POST of ALL POSTS to POST... over-usage of the word "post?" Maybe.

What a weekend, what a weekend! A weekend in the country... on the farm... at a family weddin' which felt more like a family reunion than anything else! It was a Cox Family bash from beginning to end! And we LOVED every minute of it!! Here's the play by play... (I am finally getting the hang of the new blogger... phew!)

Friday morning, bright and early... or DARK and early as the case was for us, our fun-loving circus loaded up and headed up north to the DFW... Next stop... Sher-town... or Sherman... not really sure what Shermanites call it for slang... we were off to celebrate with the Cox side of the family. Justin's cousin was gettin' hitched in Gunter, Texas and I for one would not have missed the opportunity to attend a wedding in Gunter, TX... no way, never! :) In all seriousness we have been anticipating this weekend we for some time now. Shamefully, we haven't seen much of the DFW Coxes in nearly 5 years... which meant that none of them had met Caden and certainly not Kaki, so like any proud parents, we were excited to get to show off our kids and have our kids learn a bit more about their namesake which we feel is of the utmost importance!

On our way north Justin and I had to DRAG the kids down Memory Lane and show them where the action all began back in A-town... which OH MY GOODNESS is no where near the same place we graduated high school... no way! There is a Cabella's... and a Whole Foods in Allen... like right down the road from the high school... what?! It was crazy to see how it has grown and fun to do some driving around town... rememberin' the good 'ol days... :)

We made it to Sher-town by lunch and were excited to get to spend time with Grandma before all of the wedding excitement began later that evening. Grandma lives in the country on a beautiful piece of land, complete with its own lake... or pond... I don't know... but it's perfect for fishing... and just a side story: When Justin's grandpa and his dad (Bop) were considering buying that portion of the property nearly 25 years ago, Bop convinced his Dad it was a worthy investment by sharing his deepest desire to have a place to "teach his son and his grandson how to fish someday." Well... this weekend was a BIG DEAL for Bop because he got to finish his dream... he got to take Cade-man out on that lake alongside his son... and they got to go fishing! Don't you just love that? Makes me all teary-eyed just thinking about it... thinking that God overheard that conversation and thought to himself, "Just you wait, Herb...just you wait!" Glory!!

Okay, I'll stop now...

So after lunch we tried to get our kiddos to nap so they could have a good shot of making it through the evening festivities... BUT someone saw nap time as a perfect opportunity to get to know her Great-Grandma...

And I think Grandma and Kaki will both agree that it was time well-spent! Kaki and Grandma had a fun afternoon, playing, laughing and building up a few treasures for their memory bank!

Grandma didn't know about Abby-Cadabby... and Kaki was happy to teach her! There is nothing better than watching others grab so much joy from your children... it is the best feeling ever!

After nap time Caden had a big adventure planned... his first fishing trip on Grandma's lake with Bop and Daddy... Poor Bop forgot the battery charger for the motor... so it was all oars this weekend! :)

Caden was waiting for Bop and Daddy to get everything ready...

Caden in... Daddy pushing off... I know that this weekend meant as much to Justin as it did to Bop... Justin spent MANY MANY a day out there fishing growing up... riding 4-wheelers... etc.!

And they're off...

And one... and two... and pull....pull...pull...

They switched positions because Caden INSISTED on helping row the boat...

Row, row, row your boat out in the middle of Grandma's lake...

They were successful and caught 4 fish and had a GREAT time doing it!

Meanwhile back at the ranch... the girls spent our time indoors chattin about girl things... and watching a very active little girl not miss her nap one bit...

UNTIL... we got in the car to head to the hotel to get ready for the rehearsal dinner party that evening... and Kaki BIT THE DUST...

So I decided that there was no way in heck I was going to wake that child up so I dropped the boys off to get ready and Kaki and I went and took an hour-long drive around Sherman... at one point we ended up here...

Justin was amazed I didn't get lost and I was just glad that Kaki got herself a nap because she would need it... we had a fun night ahead of us... that included LOTS of this...

Caden on the trampoline!!

With all of the Middle School and High School ladies at the party... that a boy, Caden! Or at least that is what Daddy said... Momma was thinking, "Cougars, much?!!!" :) Joke, joke!

Caden actually did develop him quite a crush as he learned to "HOP" on the big trampoline which he LOVED by the way... His cousin Mary soon became the apple of his eye for the weekend. He talked about her NON-STOP on the way home that night... And of course he INSISTED that he call her COUSIN Mary... not just Mary... and sweet Cousin Mary took her new admirer's affection seriously and treated him with such care! :) We love Cousin Mary!

The next day was WEDDING DAY! So again... nap time was essential... for Kaki! Caden could do it on pure adrenaline... so I shipped the boys off to the lake again with Bop and Kaki and I hung out in the dark hotel room while she napped for three glorious hours... GO KAKI GIRL!

Bop and Caden were successful again!!

Once nap time was over we scarfed some lunch while we got ready...

I tried to snap a pic of my sweet lil Lou Lou before we left... she was half way smiling half way fussin' at me... she was ready to go!!

My and me kiddos!! One of the few pics I have with both of them that I didn't take myself... you can imagine that this is definitely the best one we have! Love this!!

I love matching outfits... and I am going to get away with it for as long as I can... Kaki was wanting to practice her walking skills in her new kicks...

Check her out...

Cox family pic with the groom...

This is a far away shot but that was the photog taking the Cox men pic... isn't that cool? Quite a heritage Caden has... love it!

Between pictures and the wedding we stopped off in one of the church nursery rooms to let the kids play a bit...

Kaki...

Playing...

Got her... my baby doll... :) I love this pictures... such a sweet Kaki face!

It's showtime...

Caden was STONE COLD when his super fancy and dressed up crush, aka Cousin Mary came and sat right next to him at the wedding... of course Daddy had to go on and embarrass him further by taking a picture of his face... HA!

Kaki is notorious for being a bit LOUD... in a happy, funny way... but LOUD nonetheless! So we opted for the peek through the window at the back of the sanctuary method of viewing! :) But first we had a snack...My little blue eyed girl!!

The wedding was lovely and beautiful and special, everything a wedding should be. It was so exciting to see another couple head off to chart their course... another Cox family in the making... and in Hawaii no less! :)

After we sent off the bride and groom in their schmancy red t-bird convertible we headed back to Uncle Scott's house aka farm to hang out with the family and get some grub!

Little did Caden know the exciting night full of heavy machinery he was about to have...

First up... TRACTOR RIDE!!

Like the real deal... and he got to drive!! Uncle Scott is an awfully nice guy! :)

They drove out on the lawn... all 150 acres of it... ha! And headed towards Kaki, Cousin Mary and I who were relaxing on a blanket under a big tree... it was heavenly!

Until a three year old behind the wheel of a tractor came at us... :)

He was SO SO excited and so cute behind the wheel! He waved and waved when he got close to us and Kaki's eyes were the size of watermelons! She couldn't believe our sense... who would let that kid behind the wheel of that?! My goodness!!

Uncle Scott said that Caden said, "That's my Mommy!" when they drove by... ha!! Always so mater-of-fact...that boy!

Next up... the Thump Truck... and no that is not a typo... you'll see why in the video below... Uncle Scott calls this the most redneck thing you've ever seen. It's a literal Dump Truck, tricked out with one serious stereo... Like the plates in your china cabinet are gonna shatter when you drive by kind of THUMPIN' going on... Caden thought the truck was cool and the hat of course... but once the music started... TOO LOUD!!!

And as if all of that wasn't enough... he ended the night with a ride on the 4-wheeler with Daddy... with a FANCY pink helmet of Cousin Mary's! Mommy INSISTED he wear a helmet... and we all know that Caden has never been shy about sportin' pink... so it really worked in his favor! :)

Ready for his ride... HE LOVED IT... bummer! :)

In between the tractor rides, we did lots of hoppin... some lawn golf which in the country proves to be pretty darn fun and certainly challenging. We chatted as we sat around the fire pit, watching the lightening bugs sparkle out amongst the trees. There is something about the country that is absolutely good and I think NECESSARY for the soul. There is a security that the quiet of the country provides like not much else can. It's a glimpse of what's to come...

But while we're here on this earth we are going to cherish every minute of it... and thank God every day for our heritage and the Cox Family lineage. I am so proud that Caden gets to bear that name for all time! What an honor! I hope he does it proud! :)

And what about me... I'm a Cox too she says... :) And yes sweet Kaki too has a family full of boys to measure her future up against! I love that for her as well! :)

Now for a few videos...

First Caden on the tractor... and next... Caden in the thump truck... ENJOY!

Thank you Sherman, Tom Bean, Waco, San Antonio and now Hawaii Coxes for a SUPER fun and memorable weekend for the Round Rock Coxes! We hope to do it again REALLY SOON...

We are so thankful our weekend together! We will cherish it, always!

Love y'all!!
