Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar??

Katie, stole the cookie from the Cookie Jar!

Who, me? Couldn't be!

Not you?

Then, who?

I have the greatest memories of sitting in a circle on the floor of the Marfa Public Library during story hour. The teacher would start... brush, brush, clap, snap! Brush, brush, clap, snap!

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar...

And we'd all join in and sing along... I could have played that game for hours, of course I am sure my anxiety level was pretty high during that game... I wasn't one for public displays of attention! :) And look at me now... I'm a blogger!

This year for Justin's co-workers we decided to go "homemade" with our gift giving. I baked four different types of cookies, stacked them nicely in a jar, tied a ribbon around it with a cute little gift tag with the recipes for each cookie behind it and called it, "THE Greatest Gift Ever!"

I think they turned out pretty cute, considering I'm no Martha! Although, Martha would be proud because I traced the bottoms of my jars and lined the layers of my cookies with perfectly-sized parchment sheets... Martha loves her parchment!

To save money and add that personal flair, I used one of my kitchen glasses to trace circles on index cards for my gift tag and recipe cards. I punched two holes in the stack of cards and ran some ribbon through one side, around the jar and then back through the other side, tied a bow... and ta-dah!

From top to bottom:

  • Lemon Cookie Crisps (A cookie my sister-in-law Emily made this summer while we were at the lake... they are so yummy and refreshing and SUPER EASY!)
  • Peanut Butter Surprises (A dollop of peanut butter between two Ritz crackers coated in chocolate CandiQuick... YUMMO!)
  • Oatmeal Craisin White Chocolate Chip (A recipe that I like to take credit for, but in actuality I steal the oatmeal recipe from the underside of my Quaker Oats container and add craisins and white chocolate chips. I make them every Christmas!)
  • Graham Cracker Chews (This is a Cox Family favorite. Justin's Grandma made these every time he went to see her. They are super simple and so yummy. Two cans of Eagle Brand, one bag of chocolate chips and three sleeves of graham crackers. Finely crush graham crackers and mix with the other two ingredients and bake them as you would cookie bars... they are chewy and delightful!!)
Oh and in case you were wondering WHO stole the cookie from the cookie jar...

It was MOST DEFINITELY CADEN!!!

And it was actually a graham cracker chew...

Happy Christmas Week everyone!!
