Pardon the random title but I was a bit concerned that every time someone Googled Dauphin Island, AL that our blog post would pop up and that would be a wee bit scary...
But, we did... we went to the beach in Alabama... on Dauphin Island! And it was fabulous! It was our first family vacation to take as just the four of us. We had so much fun researching and planning our first vacation, thinking about all of the fun memories we would make along the way... a trip away from the daily grind, just us and kiddos... (the doggies had to stay home... it's a vaca right?!)
While I would love to re-hash EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. of our trip I think the pictures with a bit of commentary will tell the story just fine. And since I haven't blogged IN FOREVER I had no idea that the blogger stuff changed (and for the better I might add) but my pictures are a bit out of order and just wouldn't lend to a beginning to end type of storyline...
So forgive me for the lack of readability/creativity...
I took nearly 400+ pictures while we were away (hey, we were gone from Saturday to Saturday)... but do not fear, I only included the highlights! :)
Okay now... here we go...
The pool... what we did every morning after the beach and every afternoon after nap... we have two little fishies in the Cox Fam!
Baseball... Caden's current OBSESSION... we played a lot of this after dinner each night...
This girl LOVED her some pool time... just loungin' in her tube... :)
The last night we were there Justin and I were busy cleaning the house and my two little undie buddies were having a blast on the ottoman! The small things...
So the beach was an adventure for Kaki... sand, water, wind, sun... she was pretty much lovin' it! And yes the paci is in to keep her from eating the sand... girlfriend likes some grit in her teeth, no doubt!
Caden was ever the beach bum... building castles, throwing the football, splashing, swimming...
Pretty girl... with sunscreen hair... she was not too excited about she and Caden's matching beach hats...
A man deep in thought... as he observes a bit of God's creation...
So she did wear it one day...
The boys... and their little sand dollar... :)
Sweet girl...
Not so sweet girl because I told her "No!"... she was eating the sand again... She does not like to be told No... and truth be told I hate telling her no because look at her... so sad! :) Trouble!
The pool rat...
We ate nearly every meal outside... and it was AWESOME! :)
One day we did some touristy stuff and went to the Estuarium to check out the fish...
Silly Daddy...
Kaki enjoying the sights...
Caden checkin' out the lighthouse in the distance...
Historic Fort Gaines...
Running through the tunnels...
Stop for a pic...
The potty room.. fascinating to me for some reason...
One day the weather was cool and cloudy so we took the opportunity to get the kids dressed in their finest duds for a few beach pics! The sun decided to come out just as we were starting... so we did our best... it's all about "A" for effort when photographing these two!
Some more action shots of Kaki at the beach...
Hermit crabs... we caught at least 10 one day... so fun!
Look at us, Mommy... we are SO far... look at that water... the last two days we were there the weather was perfect and the ocean SO calm... it was like a lake! It was gorgeous and great for the kids!
I had to take a picture of Kaki in her romper... so cute!
A man in action... he loved the pool basketball hoop... he must have shot 1000 baskets... his arms are raw from his floaties to prove it...
Blue boy...
My view during naptime each day... restful, relaxing, refreshing...
Sweet girl posing for her close-ups...
On the cold, rainy morning Caden and Justin went out to the pier to do a bit of fishing...
They didn't catch a thing but had a lot of fun trying... especially touching all of those dead shrimp... ick! :)
Kaki had her very own cabana boy all week... he fixed her umbrella at the beach, he toted her around the pool, those two are quite a pair...
Our first night there... we headed straight to the beach to check everything out... our first pic! :)
HEY! I made it in a pic!! Whoo hoo... see I really was there! :)
Well, there you have it... our vaca in pictures...
We had the best time as a family and thought so highly of Dauphin Island, AL. The town is as laid back as they come. We fell in love with this tiny little island and hope that we can return again someday... if you ask Caden he says we're heading back next week...
And he also told us we just had to go to the post office to get the money we'd need to pay for our trip back... the post office... did y'all know you could get money there?!
So I guess y'all know where I'll be bright and early tomorrow morning, right?!
The post office, of course!
Thanks for the fun Dauphin Island! We'll miss you...
